  • You are 18 or older and of Han Chinese descent
  • You have aortic dissection or aortic aneurysm
  • You are scheduled for total aortic arch replacement using a heart-lung machine
  • You are not pregnant and have no severe bleeding disorders
  • You have not had heart surgery before, and no other heart procedures planned at the same time
  • You do not have atrial fibrillation, recent heart attacks, or unstable angina
