Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You are in good general health (ASA I or II)
- You are having orthopedic surgery on a bone or joint that will last between 1 and 3 hours
- You will receive spinal anesthesia (numbing medicine injected in your back)
- Your weight is under 35 on the body mass index (BMI) scale
- You do not have serious heart or lung problems, and your blood pressure is not low before the procedure
