Who can take part

  • You have had a severe side effect (like serious nausea, diarrhea, fever with low white blood cells, or mouth sores) from fluorouracil or capecitabine chemo, or received too much of the drug.
  • You do not have access to the standard antidote (uridine triacetate).
  • You have a solid tumor cancer and are being treated with fluorouracil or capecitabine.
  • You can take pills by mouth.
  • Your kidneys and liver are working well enough (specific blood and urine tests will check this).
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you agree to use birth control during and for 6 months after the study.
