Who can take part
- You are between 20 and 70 years old
- You have been diagnosed with rectal cancer (within about 6 inches of the anus) and are planning surgery that saves your anus or closes a temporary stoma
- Your doctors expect you to live at least one more year
- You or your main caregiver can use a smartphone to run an app
- You know your diagnosis and can give clear permission to be in the study
- You are not currently getting chemotherapy or radiation, and you are not having a large part of your colon removed at the same time
