Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with varicose veins in one leg, and the veins are at a stage C2 to C5 (visible veins with or without skin changes, but no open ulcers).
  • An ultrasound shows that the main vein in your thigh (great saphenous vein) has blood flowing backward for more than one second.
  • The same ultrasound shows that the diameter of that vein is between 3 and 12 millimeters when you lie down.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, have no blood clots in your legs or history of blood clots, and have not had previous varicose vein treatment on that leg.
  • You are able to provide informed consent and attend follow-up visits.
