Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You are scheduled for major abdominal surgery (on the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, or intestines), either with a small camera or open incision.
- You do not have a chronic bowel problem (like long-term constipation or diarrhea) before surgery.
- Your general health is good to fair (rated I-III by the anesthesiology scale).
- You can stop taking medications that affect bowel movement (like certain laxatives or motility drugs) for the study.
- You have no skin issues at the acupressure points on your arms, legs, or belly (like broken skin, infection, or scars).
