Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 70 years old.
  • You are having reconstructive surgery where a flap of skin and tissue is moved to another area, either still connected to its blood supply (pedicled) or reconnected with separate blood vessels (free flap).
  • The flap used must be at least about the size of a small hand (50 square centimeters) so blood flow can be seen clearly.
  • If you are having a pedicled flap, you must have a wound or sore on the pelvic area (like near the tailbone or hip).
  • If you are having a free flap, you must have an injury from trauma on an arm or leg.
