Virtual reality and mobile app training for root canal practice

This study tests whether using a virtual reality haptic simulator (a tool that lets you feel like you're drilling on a real tooth) or a mobile app helps dental students learn root canal procedures better than traditional training alone. Participants will practice on extracted teeth after using one of these tools.

Who can take part

  • You are a dental student who has already completed the same basic training on real teeth as your classmates, from the same teacher.
  • You have never used a virtual reality haptic simulator or the Dental EndoMaster app before.
  • You are not currently taking any medicines for anxiety, depression, or a serious illness.
  • You feel comfortable using a computer (at least moderate computer skills).
  • The tooth you will work on must be a front tooth (upper central or lateral incisor) with a simple cavity and no prior root canal work.
  • You have not performed any real root canal treatments on patients before this study.
