Who can take part

  • You must have end-stage kidney disease and be on maintenance hemodialysis (regular dialysis).
  • You cannot have an acute kidney injury or rapidly worsening kidney inflammation.
  • You cannot have an active infection or inflammatory condition like sepsis or autoimmune disease.
  • You must not have liver cirrhosis (severe scarring) or certain gut problems.
  • You must not have had an organ transplant (except possibly kidney, if enough patients join).
  • You cannot be pregnant, breastfeeding, or have cancer.
