Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have chronic kidney disease and have been on hemodialysis for at least 3 months.
  • Your homocysteine level is higher than 15 micromoles per liter (a blood test measures this).
  • You are not currently taking zinc or folic acid supplements.
  • You do not have a condition that prevents nutrient absorption (like malabsorption).
  • You are not taking certain medications or supplements that could interfere (like vitamin B12, steroids, or some antibiotics).
