Who can take part
- You have just given birth (within the last few days).
- You have at least one major risk factor (like an emergency C-section, BMI of 35 or more, a known clotting disorder, pre-eclampsia, or preterm delivery) OR you have two or more minor risk factors (like being 35 or older, smoking, having a planned C-section, or heavy bleeding after birth).
- You have not already received more than one dose of a blood thinner (heparin) after giving birth.
- You do not need to be on a full-dose blood thinner for another reason.
- You are not at high risk for bleeding or have any condition that makes heparin unsafe for you.
