Who can take part

  • Your baby is in the NICU and arrived there within 48 hours after birth.
  • Your baby was born at 28 weeks of pregnancy or later.
  • Your baby weighed at least 1000 grams (about 2 pounds 3 ounces) at birth.
  • Your baby needs blood or urine tests for kidney function as part of their regular care.
  • You or the other legal guardian can give permission for your baby to join the study.
  • Your baby does not have any known kidney problems before birth, certain genetic conditions, or missing medical records.
