Who can take part

  • The tooth to be fixed is a premolar that had root canal treatment at least two weeks ago, with no infection at the root tip.
  • Your gums are healthy, with no deep pockets (over 4 mm), and you don't smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day or chew betel nuts.
  • At least half of the tooth's crown above the gum line remains, or two full walls of the crown are intact. If the hole goes below the gum, it can be evened out with a small surgery.
  • The tooth root is long enough so the part above the gum is at least as long as the root part below, and there is at least 3 mm of solid root at the tip.
  • Your bite is normal, and the treated tooth won't be used as an anchor for a bridge or partial denture.
  • You are not pregnant or planning pregnancy, have no history of head/neck radiation or chemotherapy in the last 5 years, and do not have severe grinding, jaw joint problems, or other conditions that affect healing.
