Who can take part

  • You must be able to come to the study center for in-person visits.
  • You must usually eat at least 3000 mg of sodium per day (women) or 4000 mg per day (men).
  • You must usually eat no more than 2500 mg of potassium per day (women) or 3000 mg per day (men).
  • Your BMI must be under 35.
  • You cannot have high blood pressure (130/80 or higher), diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, or serious heart problems.
  • You must not be using any tobacco, nicotine, or illegal drugs right now or in the last 6 months.
