Quick virus test to guide antibiotic use
Part of Infections, Lungs & breathing clinical trials.

This trial tests whether using a fast, bedside PCR test (which quickly identifies the virus or bacteria causing your illness) can help doctors choose the right treatment sooner for adults admitted to the hospital with a respiratory infection like pneumonia or flu. It aims to improve care by tailoring antibiotics or antivirals to the specific cause.
This trial tests if a quick blood test (C-reactive protein, CRP) and a patient leaflet can help doctors prescribe antibiotics only when needed for adults with respiratory tract infections. It aims to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use.
