Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 60 years old.
- Your surgery is planned (not an emergency), under general anesthesia, and expected to last 4 hours or less.
- You are generally healthy or have only mild, well-controlled health issues (classified as ASA I or II).
- You are not having surgery in your mouth or throat area.
- You are not currently taking steroid medications (like prednisone or cortisone).
- You do not have a current upper respiratory tract infection (like a cold or flu).
