Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • Your physical status should be class I to III on the ASA scale (generally healthy to mild or moderate health problems)
  • Your surgery is expected to last more than 1 hour
  • You will have a catheter placed in your radial artery (wrist) for monitoring
  • Your doctor plans to use BIS monitoring (a device that tracks brain activity during anesthesia)
