Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have had open heart surgery and still have a chest tube.
  • You can talk and understand instructions.
  • You have never had a mental health diagnosis or taken psychiatric medication.
  • You are not taking pain medicine right before the chest tube is removed and do not have chronic pain that requires daily painkillers.
  • You do not wear prescription glasses or have vision problems that could affect seeing the virtual reality display.
