Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years old or older.
  • You must be scheduled for an elective surgery on your hand, wrist, or forearm (below the elbow).
  • You must be in good general health (ASA class I, II, or III).
  • You cannot have a known allergy to the anesthetic mepivacaine.
  • You must be able to understand the study and follow instructions.
  • You must not have any nerve problems in the arm that will be operated on.
