- You are 18 years old or older
- You are having surgery on your arm, hand, or shoulder
- You are able to read, understand, and sign a consent form
- You are not pregnant
- You have no known allergies to numbing or anesthetic medicines (including bupivacaine, midazolam, fentanyl, propofol, rocuronium, remifentanil, or sevoflurane)
- You do not have bleeding disorders, low platelet counts, or abnormal blood clotting tests, and you are not taking blood-thinning medications
