Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 45 years old
  • You are pregnant with one baby (not twins or more)
  • You are scheduled for a planned (elective) C-section
  • Your C-section will use spinal anesthesia (a numbing shot in your back)
  • You do not have preeclampsia, diabetes (gestational or pre-existing), or a BMI over 45
  • Your doctor has records of your weight before pregnancy and just before delivery
