Who can take part

  • You are pregnant and scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) cesarean section
  • You are between 18 and 45 years old
  • You have no serious heart disease or bleeding disorders
  • You are not currently taking blood thinners
  • You have no infection or skin condition at the injection site on your lower back
  • You are willing to receive spinal anesthesia (numbing medicine injected near your spine)
