  • You are 18 or older
  • You have osteoarthritis in your hip or knee
  • You are scheduled for a first-time hip or knee replacement (not a revision)
  • You do not have certain genetic connective tissue or metabolic diseases (like Ehlers-Danlos or gout)
  • You have not had any previous surgeries on that joint that changed its shape or structure
