Who can take part

  • You must have a pelvic organ prolapse in the top part of the vagina (apical prolapse) that is stage II or higher.
  • You cannot need any other surgery at the same time—like a hysterectomy—that could change the shape of the pelvic floor.
  • You must not have had radiation treatment to your pelvic area in the past.
  • You cannot have any birth defects or past injuries affecting your urinary system, genitals, or bowels.
  • You must not have a medical condition that would make elective surgery unsafe for you.
