Who can take part
- You are 65 years or older.
- You are having a scheduled coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, using a heart-lung machine.
- You do not have a history of drug abuse.
- You do not have severe memory or thinking problems, or a psychiatric condition that would make it hard to cooperate.
- Your heart's pumping strength (ejection fraction) is 40% or higher.
- You do not have certain heart rhythm problems (first or second degree heart block, or heart rate below 50 beats per minute).
