Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and generally healthy.
  • You have a deep cavity in a permanent back tooth that is causing moderate to severe pain (a 4 or higher on a 0-10 pain scale).
  • The tooth reacts to hot/cold and electric tests (meaning the nerve is still alive but inflamed).
  • The tooth does not hurt when tapped or pressed, and has no gum swelling or a draining sore.
  • The tooth can be fixed with a filling (direct composite restoration).
