- You are pregnant and scheduled for a planned (elective) cesarean section.
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- You agree to take part in the study and sign a consent form.
- You do not have a serious health condition that makes surgery high risk (ASA score of 4 or higher).
- You do not have advanced chronic kidney disease (very low kidney function).
- You do not have allergies to the medicines used in the study.
- You are not already taking opioids or tolerant to them.
- You have no medical reason that prevents a spinal or epidural injection.
