Immune markers in tooth retreatments for diabetics

This study tests whether different ways of activating the immune system during root canal retreatment affect levels of certain immune markers (TLR9, IL6, IL10, TNF-alfa) in people with type 2 diabetes. If you need a repeat root canal on a front tooth or lower premolar, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 50 years old.
  • You have type 2 diabetes with a recent HbA1c between 5.5% and 9.0%.
  • You need a repeat root canal on a front tooth or lower premolar due to an infection at the root tip.
  • You are not pregnant, not a smoker, and have no active gum disease or other immune-related conditions.
  • You have not taken antibiotics in the last month or anti-inflammatory drugs in the last week.
