Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have type 2 diabetes
  • Your A1C (a measure of blood sugar) is 10% or less
  • Your kidney function is moderately reduced (eGFR between 25 and 75) and you have protein in your urine (UACR greater than 100)
  • You are already taking a stable dose of blood pressure medication (ACE inhibitor or ARB) for at least 4 weeks
  • You do not have other causes of liver disease like hepatitis or heavy alcohol use, and you have not been on GLP-1 medications like semaglutide in the last 90 days
