Cold-induced pain control study (healthy adults)

This trial tests how your body's natural pain control responds to cold. You'll have a cold sensation applied to your skin to see how well your body can block pain without medication.

Who can take part

  • You are a healthy man or woman between 18 and 60 years old.
  • You can speak and understand English.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You don't use cannabis, opioids, or other addictive drugs.
  • You don't have nerve problems, muscle pain in your arms, heart disease, or a mental health condition like depression or anxiety.
  • You don't have any moles, wounds, scars, tattoos, or skin diseases on the area being tested.
  • You haven't taken painkillers or alcohol in the 24 hours before the test days.
  • You don't have any ongoing pain or itching.
  • You haven't been in other research studies in the past week (or month for drug studies).
