Measuring oral blood vessel function in healthy and ICU patients

Who can take part

  • You are either a healthy adult aged 18–40, OR you are currently in the ICU receiving IV blood-pressure medication and on a breathing tube.
  • You must not have a chronic disease (like diabetes or heart disease) or take any daily prescription medicines (if healthy volunteer).
  • You cannot be pregnant.
  • You must not have used caffeine, nicotine, or alcohol in the 12 hours before the study (if healthy).
  • For ICU patients: No head or face injuries, no high-dose IV fluids, and your blood pressure medication dose must be stable for at least 30 minutes.
