Comparing two types of nasal septum surgery

Nasal Septum Deviation

This study compares a newer, less invasive type of nose surgery (disarticulation septoplasty) to the traditional open approach for fixing a crooked nasal septum that causes breathing problems. It wants to see which method works better.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have a crooked nasal septum (deviated septum) blocking your nose, confirmed by a scope test (endoscopy).
  • You are scheduled for one of the two surgeries being studied between January 2023 and December 2025.
  • You do NOT have a hole in your septum (septal perforation).
  • You have NOT had any prior nose surgery (including cosmetic nose reshaping).
  • You do NOT have nasal allergies (allergic rhinitis) or long-term sinus infection (chronic sinusitis).
