Who can take part

  • You are pregnant and at least 18 years old (up to 56).
  • Your cervix is not yet soft or open (scoring 6 or less on the Bishop test).
  • You are scheduled to have labor started with a balloon catheter (not medication).
  • You are at least 37 weeks pregnant (confirmed by early ultrasound).
  • You are carrying a single baby who is head-down.
  • You do not have certain conditions like a uterine scar, infection, severe preeclampsia, or a baby that is growing too fast or too slow.
