Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 84 years old.
  • You had a broken bone in your arm or leg (not hand or foot) that was fixed with metal hardware like plates, screws, or rods.
  • You developed a deep infection in that surgical site that requires another surgery.
  • Your doctor plans to treat the infection with antibiotics, and you don't have a history of long-term infection there before.
  • The original fracture happened less than 2 years ago, and you don't have other serious health issues that prevent surgery.
