Who can take part

  • You are 65 years or older and planning to have a knee replacement in the next 2 months (not a repeat surgery on the same knee).
  • You are in generally good health and do not have serious lung disease, heart failure, or other conditions that could make deep breathing unsafe.
  • You do not have conditions like Cushing's syndrome or asthma that require corticosteroid medication, and you are not currently taking any corticosteroid drugs.
  • You do not have severe psychiatric or memory problems that require a legal guardian.
  • You have a smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access to complete study activities.
