This study tests whether a 7-day low-sugar, high-fat diet before a PET/CT scan can improve detection of a specific type of lung cancer called lepidic-predominant adenocarcinoma (LPA). If you have a suspicious lung nodule or biopsy-confirmed LPA, this diet may help the scan be more accurate.

Who can take part

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You need a lung nodule that either looks like LPA on a CT scan or was confirmed as LPA by biopsy.
  • The nodule must be at least 1 cm (10 mm) in size.
  • You must be willing to follow a low-sugar, high-fat (ketogenic) diet for 7 days before the scan.
  • You should not have type 1 diabetes, kidney failure, pancreatitis, or severe high cholesterol.
  • You cannot have another cancer that is growing or needs treatment within the last 3 years.
