Who can take part
- Age 18 or older and scheduled for elective (planned) wedge resection or lung biopsy using VATS (a minimally invasive chest surgery)
- ASA physical status I, II, or III (healthy enough for surgery with no or mild medical conditions)
- Body weight between 50 kg (110 lbs) and under 40 BMI (roughly 250 lbs or less, depending on height)
- No skin infection at the site where the nerve block will be given
- Able to answer pain questions after surgery and willing to cooperate with the study
- No known allergies to the study medications, bleeding disorders, or existing chronic pain
