- You have severe hair loss covering 50–90% of your scalp that has lasted 6 months to 4 years
- Your hair loss has not regrown significantly on its own for at least the past 6 months
- You have not taken any alopecia treatments during the study period
- You do not have other types of hair loss (such as diffuse shedding or androgenetic alopecia)
- You are generally healthy with no unstable heart, lung, liver, kidney, or other serious medical conditions
- You have not had major surgery in the past 8 weeks and will not need major surgery during the study
