This study evaluates how physiotherapy can help adults with unexplained breathlessness or breathing pattern problems. Breathing pattern disorder happens when your breathing becomes inefficient or irregular without an obvious lung or heart disease—and physio may help retrain how you breathe.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • Your doctor referred you for unexplained breathlessness or suspected breathing pattern disorder
  • You do not have serious lung conditions like COPD, ILD, bronchiectasis, or cystic fibrosis
  • You do not have structural heart disease or pregnancy
  • You can attend up to four outpatient physiotherapy sessions
  • You are not currently in pulmonary or cardiac rehabilitation, or receiving specialist throat/speech therapy
