Ureteral Access Sheaths for Kidney Stone Removal Surgery

This trial tests different types of tubes (called ureteral access sheaths) used during a minimally invasive kidney stone removal procedure called RIRS. The goal is to see which type works best and causes the least damage to your ureter (the tube that carries urine from your kidney).

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old
  • You have kidney stones smaller than 2 centimeters (about the size of a small bean)
  • You are scheduled to have retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS)—a minimally invasive procedure to remove kidney stones
  • You do not have an active urinary tract infection
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder or take blood-thinning medications that cannot be stopped
  • You are able to lie on your back with your legs up (the lithotomy position) during surgery
