Who can take part
- You are at least 18 years old
- You are admitted to the surgical intensive care unit (ICU) at a Northwell Health hospital
- You have been diagnosed with moderate to severe acute pancreatitis
- Your body is not tolerating at least 75% of the nutrition your doctors plan to give you through a feeding tube
- You do not have a blocked, damaged, or bleeding intestine, or active C. difficile or other gut infection
- You are not currently receiving cancer treatment (or finished less than 3 months ago)
