Understanding Why Some Molar Teeth Don't Come In

Tooth Eruption Disorder

This study looks at why some molar teeth (the larger back teeth) fail to erupt, or come through the gums. Researchers will review your dental records and history to identify common risk factors that might explain tooth eruption problems.

Who can take part

  • One or more back molars (either baby or adult teeth) have not erupted or only partially erupted
  • You have dental records available, including X-rays and clinical photos
  • You are between 5 and 80 years old
  • If you are an adult, you can understand and sign a consent form; if a child, a parent or guardian can sign
  • You do not have a genetic syndrome or systemic disease affecting tooth development
  • The tooth eruption problem is not due to trauma or injury
