Who can take part

  • Age 18–80 years old
  • Non-smoker, or quit smoking at least 5 years ago
  • Generally good health, or have a stable chronic condition like controlled diabetes (blood sugar HbA1c below 7.0%)
  • Need extraction and bone preservation for at least 2 single-rooted teeth that are not next to each other
  • No active tooth or gum infections, and good daily tooth-brushing habits
  • No history of cancer treatment (chemotherapy or head/neck radiation) or medications that weaken bone
