Biodegradable Stents for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis
Part of Digestive system clinical trials.
This trial tests a new type of stent (a small tube placed in bile ducts) that dissolves on its own over time in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a rare disease affecting the bile ducts. The goal is to widen narrowed ducts and reduce the need for repeated procedures.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) with a high-grade stricture (severely narrowed bile duct)
- You have not had a stent placed or balloon dilation in your bile ducts in the past 4 months
- You do not currently have a bacterial infection in your bile ducts (cholangitis)
- Your liver function is relatively preserved (not severe cirrhosis)
- You do not have signs of bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) or other active cancer
- You are able to provide informed consent and understand the trial

This trial tests if a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) can help people with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and inactive inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It compares FMT against a placebo to see if it improves liver health.
This trial tests a new treatment called LB-P8 for people with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a liver disease. It aims to see if LB-P8 is safe and can help slow the disease down. You may join if you meet certain health requirements.
This trial tests a new drug, HK-660S, for people with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a liver disease that affects the bile ducts. It aims to see if the drug can improve liver health and slow the disease.
This trial tests whether a fecal (stool) transplant from a healthy donor can help people with both PSC and inflammatory bowel disease. It aims to see if the treatment can improve liver health and reduce inflammation. You must have early to moderate liver scarring and be on stable medications.
This study is testing a new type of stent that eventually dissolves on its own. The stent is placed in a narrowed bile duct to open it up and let bile flow properly. This might help people with strictures caused by scarring, stones, past surgeries, or certain bile duct cancers.
This study looks at what drives primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and how it affects the body, using a team approach and medical tests like scans and blood work. It may help researchers understand PSC better and could improve future treatment decisions.
