Silicon Oil's Effect on Retinal Nerve Function

Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment

Part of Eyes & vision clinical trials.

This study examines how silicon oil (a clear liquid sometimes used to repair detached retinas) affects the electrical function of the retina. Researchers will use special eye tests to measure how well the retina responds to light after treatment.

  • You have not had any previous eye surgery
  • You do not have combined traction-rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (a more complex form of detachment)
  • You do not have other eye diseases such as glaucoma, advanced myopia, or age-related macular degeneration

Risk factors for eye pressure and retinal detachment after surgery

This study looks at why some patients develop high eye pressure or retinal detachment again after surgery to repair retinal detachment with silicone oil. It aims to find risk factors so doctors can better prevent these complications.

Netarsudil Drops After Retinal Detachment Surgery

This study tests whether netarsudil eye drops can prevent vision-threatening scar tissue (proliferative vitreoretinopathy) after retinal detachment repair. If you are having surgery for a retinal detachment, these drops may reduce the risk of complications.

Dropless vitrectomy eye drops for retinal detachment surgery

This trial studies a “dropless” method (fewer post-surgery eye drops) after pars plana vitrectomy, a surgery used to repair a retinal detachment. It may help by improving comfort and simplifying recovery for people having this specific type of retinal detachment repair.

Spring syringe removal of silicone oil

This trial uses a special spring-loaded syringe to remove silicone oil from the eye after a previous vitrectomy surgery. It may offer a simpler way to take out the oil for people who don't have certain eye problems.

Comparing two eye measurement methods in silicone oil eyes

This study compares two ways to measure eye length in people having surgery for retinal detachment with silicone oil. The goal is to find out which measurement method works better for eyes filled with silicone oil.

Liquid silicone during eye surgery for retinal detachment

This trial tests whether using a liquid called perfluorocarbon (PFCL) during surgery helps the retina heal better in people with a specific type of retinal detachment. The goal is to see if it reduces damage to blood vessels in the eye.
