Urine Test to Detect Bladder and Kidney Cancer

This study tests whether a simple urine test can accurately identify cancer in the bladder, ureters (tubes between kidneys and bladder), or renal pelvis (part of the kidney). You would provide urine samples before your planned surgery, and researchers will compare the urine test results to your actual tissue diagnosis after surgery.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have blood in your urine (visible or found on a test)
  • Imaging scans (ultrasound, CT, or MRI) show a growth or abnormality in your bladder, ureter, or renal pelvis
  • You are scheduled to have surgery to remove tissue for diagnosis
  • You can provide written consent to participate
  • You can provide an adequate urine sample and will receive a final tissue diagnosis after surgery
