Who can take part

  • Your child is between 2 and 18 years old
  • Your child has one kidney stone in the lower ureter, confirmed by CT scan, measuring 5–15 mm (about the size of a small pea to a peppercorn)
  • Your child needs ureteroscopy surgery (a camera-based procedure to remove the stone)
  • Your child's urine is free of infection before surgery (or was treated if previously infected)
  • Your child's doctor was unable to gently access the ureter during an initial attempt, triggering enrollment in this trial
  • Your child has no allergy to aminophylline, theophylline, or ethylenediamine, and hasn't taken these drugs in the past 24 hours
