Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD)

Who can take part

  • Age 18–65 years old
  • Confirmed fatty liver with at least 10% fat content on MRI scan, but without advanced scarring
  • At least one metabolic risk factor: prediabetes/diabetes, high blood pressure, or high triglycerides
  • Symptoms matching Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis (like rib pain, abdominal fullness, dark complexion, obesity, plus tongue/pulse findings)
  • No heavy alcohol use, other liver diseases, or severe heart, kidney, or immune system problems
  • Stable medications for at least 3 months; no recent weight-loss surgery or major surgery
