  • You are 18–70 years old
  • You have been in the ICU for at least 24 hours and expected to stay at least 7 more days
  • You have signs of gut dysfunction (like stomach bloating, diarrhea, or paralyzed bowel) and feeding problems that persist after 3 days of nutrition support
  • You are stable enough to participate (not in early shock, infection, or severe organ failure)
  • You have no active gut bleeding, perforation, or severe intestinal damage
  • You have not had abdominal surgery in the past 2 weeks
