Who can take part

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have sepsis with a rise in your SOFA score (a measure of organ failure) of 2 or more points.
  • You must not have active major gut bleeding, a hole in your intestine, or other severe gut damage.
  • You must not need a feeding tube because of severe diarrhea or blockages.
  • You must not have had recent abdominal surgery (within the past 2 weeks) or have a planned surgery soon.
